Practice/Mission/Vision Statement
I am currently in private practice after working for many years with a local psychiatrist now retired. I have an expertise in working with children in every age range; I enjoy helping parents deal with issues related to parenting in a healthy way which enhances ongoing and meaningful communication. In this vein much of my practice is absorbed with marital therapy. I also see individuals with a wide range of emotional problems, or who are attempting to make successful emotional transitions in their lives. This would include grief work. I have provided group therapy in the past and would do so again if the opportunity presented itself.
I draw on a variety of treatment models in my work, and tend to use the approach which best suits the problem at hand. I believe my approach is practical and interactive. I provide the opportunity for my clients to learn new methods of coping with life's adversity and transitions in such a fashion that personal growth can be continual in life and relationships. I have a basic belief in the innate ability of individuals of all ages to find the internal resources to problem solve in creative ways if they are given a safe environment in which to do so. This is the environment I strive to provide.

About
Prior to obtaining my Master's in Social Work at the U. of Michigan, I worked for 5 years with children from ages 4-18 in a variety of intensive settings in Connecticut and Ann Arbor which confirmed my interest in the field and gave me invaluable experience for which I shall always be grateful. I was lucky, after moving to the Detroit area, to work for 13 years with Dr. Walter Guevara until his retirement, at which point I began my private practice. While not a native of this community I have practiced here for 25 years and I enjoy the fact that my clients stay in contact with me over the years and keep me in touch with their lives. I also have a strong interest in art which I try to include in my work, especially with children.
