Practice/Mission/Vision Statement
I see a wide variety of people with a large range of challenges facing them in their personal, family and work lives. My training in Family Systems gives me a broad understanding of the many forces at play when people are struggling. In addition I use Cognitive/Behavioral strategies which are concrete and very doable for both children and adults to make the changes they desire. More and more the information we are gaining in the study of how our brains function and thrive is informing my work.
The use of art and imaginative work can be valuable for some people. I am eager to work with other professionals (teachers, physicians, probation officers, etc)for a coordinated resolution of problems.

About
After working for a number of years in adult education, I returned to Wayne State University's School of Social Work, graduating with a Master's Degree and a concentration in mental health. I completed courses for the license in Marriage and Family Therapy.
I spent seven years of very satisfying work in an inpatient psychiatric hospital and began my private practice with the mentoring of Sean Hogan-Downey, LMSW., LMFT., BCD. I attribute the refinement of my skills to her wise and sensitive guidance.
For the past twenty years I've worked with individuals, couples, families and groups to draw upon their strengths and cope more effectively with what is problematic in their home and work lives.
